DVI Pre-Post Anomalies & Outliers
Several Anomalies & Outliers paragraphs rotate in printed DVI Pre-Post reports. These revolving anecdotes, vignettes, or narratives provide information and insights that are believed to be helpful in understanding DVI Pre-Post reports.
- When DVI Pre-Post scales, or more specifically, the problems and disorders they represent, are not specifically mentioned in the patient
referral or treatment plan, it is likely they won't be treated. To avoid this oversight, we recommend that the DVI Pre-Post "pre-test report" be
reviewed during program intake screening. Not being treated could help explain "no change," or even some negative outcome results.
- Although post-test scale scores are discussed in terms of their comparison to analogous pre-test scores, they also represent the client's current, or present, problem status or intensity. Elevated (70th percentile and higher) post-test scale scores may foster consideration of continued, or alternative treatment.
- It is important to remember that treatment outcome is influenced by both the treatment program and client-related factors, like motivation, attitude, cooperation, commitment, acceptance, and goals. Expecting all clients to want positive change may be unrealistic, especially when treatment is court ordered, or probation department mandated.
- In many testing settings, it may be advantageous to "group test," with paper-pencil materials. You can download DVI Pre-Post, test booklets and answer sheets at www.online-testing.com and, then photocopy them. If you have any questions, call us at 1 (800) 231-2401, or email us at info@online-testing.com.
- When comparing pre-test/post-test scores, you should note when the pre-test score is at or below the 69th percentile (non-problem range). Since a pre-test problem did not exist, posttest improvement may be hard to come by. Indeed, in these cases pretest scores would likely show little change.
- It is important that the DVI Pre-Post be included in treatment intake screening. Intake administration, of the pre-test, serves as the baseline
against which post-test scale scores are compared. Inclusion of the DVI Pre-Post in intake screening, increases the probability that identified
problems are included in the client's treatment plan.
- A 90th percentile, or higher, Truthfulness Scale score can occur with the pre-test or post-test. In either case, the DVI Pre-Post
"comparison report" is negated or nullified, because an invalid (inaccurate) test cannot be used in a meaningful baseline comparison.
- If interested in assessing domestic violence offenders to determine if they have a domestic violence problem, visit www.online-testing.com and review the Domestic Violence Inventory (DVI). If you want to review domestic violence treatment effectiveness, visit www.domestic-violence-tests.com and review the DVI Pre-Post.
